THIS BEAUTIFUL SITE IS AVAILABLE FOR YOUR EVENT!
We're a great facility for wedding ceremonies, receptions, auctions, corporate meetings, celebrations and trade shows.The facility accommodates 400 people and includes the Dairy Barn, Hay Barn, Outdoor Courtyard, one private classroom / dressing room, one storage room, a catering support area, portable stage, tables and chairs , as well as ample free parking and complimentary internet service.
Please come and tour our facility! Tours are available by appointment only. Please contact the rental office at 425-837-3321 Monday - Friday to schedule an appointment.

Design an Environmentally Friendly Garden
October 5; 6 – 8 p.m.

Before you start shopping for plants and digging holes, get to know your site. Learn how to create a simple map of your garden and identify areas where you have shade, sun, seasonally wet areas, heavy soil and other unique growing conditions. Then learn how to create a basic garden plan to incorporate the elements you want in the best possible way. We will address how to plan around existing plants including when to transplant if practical. Participants will leave with the knowledge and tools to map their garden and create a basic garden plan.

We will talk about specific considerations for attracting wildlife, using edible pants and creating an environmentally friendly garden. Participants will leave with plant lists and resources for selecting the perfect plants for their gardens.

Planting Techniques for a Sustainable Garden

When it comes time to plant your garden, there is a lot more to do than simply dig a hole. Sustainable gardens start with proper soil preparation. Learn when you should and should not add compost and fertilizer, how to loosen the soil without breaking your back and the best way to plant and transplant trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals. Participants will learn how to properly care for a newly planted garden to minimize plant loss, conserve water and reduce weeds.

Choosing the Right Plants for a Sustainable Garden – Landscaper Training

When adding trees, shrubs, and other ornamentals to your client’s gardens, it’s important to use the “Right Plant-Right Place” decision making process. Correct plant placement will save you time and money and ensure a successful landscape installation you can be proud of. This workshop will teach you and your staff how to fully evaluate a garden site, create a sustainable garden plan, choose plants that will perform best in a particular setting, and how to maximize proper planting and mulching techniques.

Pickering Barn History:
The Pickering Barn was originally built by Territorial Governor, William Pickering. The restored hay barn and adjoining dairy barn are the only remaining structures of the original 410 acre farm.
