Earth Day Festivities at the Barn, April 19, 2008
Join your neighbors and friends for Earth Day festivities at the Issaquah Farmers’ Market on April 19, 2008.
There will be fun activities for kids, informational displays representing local and regional environmental interests and classes for the gardener!
Kids can test their building skills at the Home Depot booth and take home a bird house for our local feathered friends, or they can draw what Earth Day means to them on paper grocery bags. Those bags will later be used for groceries at the Gilman QFC store.
A wide range of environmental organizations including GAIT (Getting Around Issaquah Together), Partnership for Rural King County, Audubon, FISH, and the Northwest Earth Institute will feature displays, activities for all ages, and information on the many ways residents can take steps to build a better tomorrow. Be sure to stop by the Hay Barn for the exhibits.
Gardeners (and those who care for lawns) can spring into the season with a choice of classes on noxious weeds, making organic fertilizer and exploring less toxic products for lawn and garden from a lively, local landscape company professional. See PDF flyer for more details. Free product samples of less toxic products will be available on a first come, first served basis to those registered (425-837-3428) for the landscaping, “Tricks of the Trade” class.
