Architect Selected for Zero Energy Project
The City of Issaquah is sponsoring a groundbreaking, cutting edge, attached residential green building demonstration project which, at completion, will be one of the most innovative green housing projects in the Pacific Northwest. The project, to be built and sold by Noland Homes, involves the design, construction, and sale of approximately 10 attached residential homes, built to an extremely green standard. The purpose of the project is to catalyze truly green development within the City and region. The project is being done in partnership with King County, Puget Sound Energy, the Master Builders Assocation, and the WSU Energy Office.
After reviewing submittals from 15 interested architects, and interviewing a short list of seven finalists, David Vandervort Architects has been selected as the Zero Energy Project architect. The selection was made with input from the City’s and Noland Homes’ project partners, including King County, the WSU Energy Office, Puget Sound Energy, and Built Green. The City’s Project Manager, Brad Liljequist, was heavily involved with Noland Homes on the interview and selection process.
The team is very excited about David Vandervort and his group as the Project Architect. The firm has a deep background in green design and construction, and has designed several of the prototype green projects within the Seattle area. They have done a wide range of residential projects, ranging from market rate to high end. David Vandervort Architects’ designs are beautiful. Aesthetic strength was an important factor in the selection. Their company web site, which includes a number of past projects, can be seen at www.vandervort.com.
