The City of Issaquah Arts Commission and 4Culture present a new program: Films @ the Train Depot!

 

The free films are shown at 7 p.m. the second Saturday of each month at the Historic Train Depot, 50 Rainier Blvd. N. in Issaquah.

 

The Fall Film Series line-up “Made in Washington” includes:

 

Oct. 10

“The Egg and I” (1947)

A light-hearted comedy about a society girl whose new husband convinces her to move to the country and start a chicken farm.

·            Based on the novel by Betty MacDonald, written and directed by Chester Erskine and starring Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray.  

·            Special program: Pre-film talk with Betty MacDonald expert, Paula Becker! Paula Becker is a staff historian for HistoryLink.org, where her essays document the dance marathon craze of the 1920s and 1930s, war-effort knitting on the home front during World Wars I and II and the career of The Egg and I author Betty MacDonald, among numerous other subjects. She co-wrote (with Alan J. Stein) the book “Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition: Washington's First World's Fair,” and contributed to the book “Knitting America.”

 

Nov. 14

“Singles” (1992)

A story about the ever-transient singles life, set against the backdrop of the 1990’s Seattle music scene.

·            Written and directed by Cameron Crow, and starring Campbell Scott and Kyra Sedgwick.

 

Dec. 12

“Smoke Signals” (1998)

The story of two young American Indian men on an important life journey.

·            Based on the novel by Sherman Alexie, written by Sherman Alexie and Chis Eyre and directed by Chris Eyre and Randy Shur. Starring Adam Beach and Evan Adams.
